The quake has caused severe damage to local infrastructure. The reconstruction work has focused on road construction, electricity, communications and the water supply.
Currently, the main roads in Yushu have been repaired and are operating well, and the transportation department is now working on the roads linking villages.
Wei Guijun is the Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of Economic Operations Adjustment with the National Development and Reform Commission.
"The capacity of emergency electricity generators and repaired grid can meet the demand of electricity in the region. The National Grid has repaired several major electricity lines. The grid also provides electricity to Headquarter of the quake-relief office, Yushu Hospital and Yushu Airport. Moreover, communication facilities are in stable operation."
According to Wei, the transportation department is now coordinating with other departments to try to figure out how to best move quake-relief materials.
Meanwhile, the government has earmarked over 6,000 tons of grains to Qinghai and the Ministry of Commerce has been funneling in other supplies including instant noodles and drinking water.
The Qinghai Coal Corporation and Gansu Yaojie Coal Company are providing a total of 700 tons of coal each day to the region.
And Wei Guijun says temporary and mobile stores have now been set up.
"The market in Yushu Autonomous Prefecture hasn't been restored. However, prices of grain, cooking oil, poultry, drinking water and other daily necessities and construction materials and medicine are stable in Xining and its surrounding areas. Nobody took the advantage to gouge price. We will intensify the transportation of goods such as grain and oil to quake-hit region and ensure the market stability."
The official adds that the government is keeping a close eye on after shocks and is working to make sure that post-quake epidemics or secondary disasters compound the problems there.
