because of mercury. Think about that. In 44% of all river bodies and streams it’s not safe to fish or swim. And yet industrial polluters continue to block legislation that would prevent mercury from polluting our water supplies and leaving children with debilitating diseases.
l Among the treasures of our land is water--fast becoming our most valuable, most prized, most critical
resource. Water can be blessing if properly used--but it can bring devastation and ruin when left
uncontrolled.
l People have a right to air that they and their children can breathe without fear.
l Many people have been ignorant of this environmental problem.
l Use cleaning supplies that don't pollute.
l Government cannot close its eyes to the pollution of waters, to the erosion of soil, to the slashing of forests.
l By using energy more efficiently in your daily activities, you'll not only reduce carbon dioxide emissions butalso other emissions that contribute to air pollution and smog.
