题目 | 小作文(旧题):The graph and table below show the percentage of population in the world from 1950s to projections in 2040.
The table shows the percentage of people aged 65 and above in different regions.
|
范文 | The two types of graphs uncover the aging trends globally and regionally.
The line graph reveals the global proportions of seniors and children from 1950 to predictions in 2040. Since 1950, the figure for seniors, starting at 5%, increased gradually while that for children, beginning at 13%, decreased after an initial rise, and the two lines intersect at 8% in 2016. From 2020 to 2040, it is projected that the elderly will continue to grow more dramatically at 15% while the toddlers will drop to 7%.
The table demonstrates the predicated percentage of the elderly at 65 and above in 2020 and 2040 in six areas. For Asia, Latin America, and North Africa, all of them will experience a double increase in the aged from around 7.3% to about 16% during the period in question. By contrast, North America, Sub-Sahara and Western Europe are expected to have a slower increase in the elders.
In conclusion, though most pressing in Western Europe and North America, the intensification of the aging phenomenon has already become a global issue. |

| People can eat a wide variety of food that can be grown in other areas. As a result, people eat more food produced in other regions than local food. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages. |
范文 | Interestingly, people in the contemporary society consume a wide range of foods produced not mainly in their local areas but in other places. The essay will expound whether the trend are generally positive or negative.
On the one side, diversified food consumption benefits health and economy. Nutrients deficiencies can be averted since diets are no longer limited by local production. For example, those who once suffered monotonous fruits in the Frigid Zone now have access to various fruits abundant in the tropics. More importantly, the exchanging nature of the practice encourages every region to focus on producing one particular kind of food that best fits its geological characteristics. Gradually, the global productivity will improve and food costs will be brought down.
On the other side, the food globalization presents challenges to transportation and local culture. Transported a long distance from other regions or countries, seafood and meat such as octopus, langoustine, goose, and pheasant might become stale, which might cause diarrhea, vomiting and bromatoxism. Apart from these immediate harms, skilled traditional foods are at a greater risk. For example, sugar-coated figurine, the Chinese conventional street art of shaping sucrose and maltose into animals, flowers and other figures, might diminish in front of more available supermarket British Fisherman’s Friend and American Jawbreaker.
As far as I am concerned, benefits of the trend override its shortcomings because more food varieties at a lower price can be enjoyed by the wider public while accompanying problems can be resolved by discernible individuals and a protective government. |
