题目 | Recently you read a book about a place. Some information about the place is incorrect.
You need to write: ● Why/how do you know this place? ● What is the incorrect information? ● Why it is important to correct the wrong information? |
范文 | Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to tell you that the book published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press has a problem. The name of the book is Theme Park written by Ken Beatty. In Page 27, there is a headline “Five themed lands”, followed by the paragraph that introduces five Disney lands respectively.
But in fact there are altogether six Disney Lands nowadays because in 2006 Shanghai has established and opened a new Disney park which I have just paid a visit last month. I know the new park through local news and word of mouth. Both broadcasters and my friends think highly of it.
To correct the figure from five to six Disney Lands is of significance because it will attract more tourists from home and abroad to my hometown, Shanghai. Therefore, our economy will be much stronger and culture will be much more diversified and Shanghai will enjoy a better development.
Yours Sincerely, Yolanda. |

题目
| Some people believe that one should not be allowed to work after the age of 65, others believe that they should be allowed to work for as long as they want. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. |
范文 | Opinions are divided over the issue of retirement. In the essay, two major and opposite views will be fully expounded.
Some argue that the age of sixty five should be the limit to working. First and foremost, seniors above sixty five won’t have enough strength and energies to continue the hard work of sitting about six or seven hours in front of computers, let alone physical labor. What’s more, earlier retirement of the elders means more job vacancies for the youngsters who otherwise have no opportunities to flex their muscles. Low employment rates may bring a large group of vigorous young people idling around doing nothing. Last but not least, the aged can stay in home, looking after their grandchildren for the parents who have to work all the money to earn more bread.
Others, however, insist that people should be given full rights when it comes the issue of retirement. Occupation provides senior citizens an opportunity to give full play to their abilities, so that they could feel still needed and valued by the society. More importantly, by keeping the position, the aged are able to pass on their experience to the callow who can stand on the shoulders of predecessors rather than do research on what have already been discovered. Another more practical reason for elders to continue working is to lessen the financial burden for the families because young parents could at least set aside no money for the aged.
In a nutshell, it depends totally on the seniors to determine whether to abandon working or not and when to go back home entirely, after them taking into account factors such as the mental and physical health of individuals, the needs of the corporations and the demands of the families. |
